Maiya Devi Shrestha, Member of Parliament in the National
Assembly, the upper house of Parliament, is known as an
exemplary social worker in Nepal. She was elected a member
in the House of Representatives (the lower house) in the
first parliamentary elections following the restoration of
democracy in 1990. Later, she was elected a member of the
National Assembly.
She has personally donated funds for building schools,
colleges, hospitals, bridges or temples, especially for the
welfare of poor people living in villages. Respecting her
contribution to the country, the State awarded her twice
with the prestigious Gorkha Dakshin Bahu medals.
Presently, she is also a member of the Academic Council of
the Tribhuvan University.
She has been of constant inspiration to Internship Nepal in
developing this organization also as a social service
entity. Now Internship Nepal also has programs wherein part
of the fund generated by our programs is utilized in the
activities supporting the welfare of the poor, backward and
marginalized communities in the country. |

Nardev Pandey, chairman of Internship Nepal, is Senior
Journalist of Nepal. He has been working Nepal's largest
selling Daily news paper, Kantipur, for 12 years as senior
sub-editor. He is also serving as chief editor of the online
media site Nepal Human Rights News (www.nepalhumanrightsnews.com),
Nepal's pioneer human rights media.
His working experience is as follows:

Lauren McCurdy is the US contact for Internship Nepal. She
has lived in Nepal and now travels back and forth between
Kathmandu and her home in Pennsylvania.
She has done volunteer work in Nepal and plans to provide
educational and social programs through a new group of
non-profit organizations.
She has experience in
international travel and worked with a popular internet
travel company.
Lauren is our American expert on Nepal and
travel coordinator. She also provides escorted trips for
student groups, educators and professionals for Internship
Nepal. |
