About Us
Internship Nepal (IN) is a volunteer and internship program run by Volunteer Forum Nepal (VFN), a non-governmental, non-profit organization (Kathmandu District Administration Office registration No.1221 and Social Welfare Council registration No:22927). The IN program is committed to the professional and personal development of its volunteers and interns. This is achieved through VFN’s excellence and focus on experiential education. VFN is the idea of a team of professionals, who include journalists, university professors, social workers, ex-volunteers as well as interns. They launched the program in November 2005.
Volunteer Forum Nepal believes that its Internship Nepal programs provide the best way for people to become aware of their future career path and needs. Learning by doing, and being exposed to professionals working in the field, provides the intern or volunteer with valuable work experiences. The program team can provide a professional reference, which can lead to a rewarding career, once the intern has graduated from their professional training.
The Internship Nepal staff provide personal attention to the interns and volunteers. This along with experiential learning and participants guided reflection upon their individual career goals forms the heart of IN’s philosophy for interns and volunteers. The programs offer the chance to develop their inter-cultural competence.
Internship Nepal is also involved in supporting and improving the education of some of the most underprivileged children of the country by awarding scholarships for primary and secondary education. Internship Nepal also believes it is important to support the children’s personal development and self esteem. Communities are encouraged to strengthen their organizational capabilities through the support of Internship Nepal.
Internship Nepal provides a great opportunity to interns and volunteers from around the world to visit and experience life in Nepal. It gives interns and volunteers the experience of working with Nepalese communities who support different cultural, political, social and other activities. Interns and volunteers gain an experience of the culture, knowledge of Nepalese society and history and much more.
